About Us
As a teenager, Bill Signs worked as a flight instructor and flew cargo aircraft while maintaining Volvos in his spare time. His neighbors and friends would bring their cars to him for service. He then began buying and repairing Volvos for resale to help finance his aviation dreams. Bill was flying corporate planes in 1983 when he was challenged to open his own auto repair shop.

Bill had taken his Volvo to a local dealership to have a warranty recall performed. He was very disappointed with the quality of the service he received. He took his concerns to the service manager who instead of offering a solution, challenged Bill to open his own shop if he could do a better job.
As a results of the dealers challange Swedish Auto was born. Swedish Auto has been doing business in the same neighborhood ever since. That Volvo dealership has since perished. Swedish Auto later expanded to add TokyoTown to service Honda and Acura automobiles, and Tokyo Town Service for servicing Toyota and Lexus. And, we've recently added Mini Cooper to the lineup of import cars that we maintain.
The company has been able to flourish by offering quality repairs, maintenance and services at reasonable prices, and offering warranties that exceed the dealer. Bill is still flying airplanes today, and holds a Guinness World Record for flying a single engine airplane around the world to all seven continents in 50 days.
